The Novak Djokovic Foundation: a life mission

The Novak Djokovic Foundation was created back in 2007 and has achieved several great milestone over these 13 years. The Serbian player spent thousands of dollars helping children between the ages of three and five and delivering several great initiatives.

This has always been one of the biggest priorities for Djokovic. In an interview released a couple of years ago he accurately conveyed his thinking: "I don't think the world pays too much attention to early childhood development, and those are the crucial years when the human brain is developing fastest. That's one of the problems. we have in Serbia. Over 50% of children do not attend preschool institutions."

The Serbian champion has always been very attentive to problems relating to the world of childhood: through his Foundation he has always promoted many charitable events. In fact, only this year there have been numerous charitable initiatives that Djokovic has carried out to help his country and the places most affected by COVID-19. Just think, for example, of the donation of one million euros made to the Territorial Social Health Authority of Bergamo, Italy.

Through his Novak Djokovic Foundation, the 17-time winner of a Grand Slam tournament paid an additional $ 100,000 to build a new school in Trstenik, Serbia. Nole, along with his wife Jelena (co-founder and global CEO of the foundation), have been helping those who were most in need through the Novak Djokovic Foundation for many years.

In 2017, in collaboration with the city of Pozega in Serbia, the Bambi kindergarten was reopened within the Olga Jovicic Rita institution, which received a considerable donation from the organization created by the Serbian player, something like 94 thousand euros.

In this way, more than 300 children between the ages of 3 and 5 have been accommodated. Doors and windows were replaced, walls covered and painted, and a new floor suitable for children was built.

The municipality of Pozega, which has an estimated population of 13,000 inhabitants, contributed another 15,000 euros to the project. Similar projects were already planned in other 20 cities. A mission for life, that's the noble work of Novak Djokovic and his foundation.
