Challenge Tour 2021, the 25 tournaments
The calendar of the Challenge Tour 2021 has been unveiled. It' s a circuit that will stop once again in Italy and, for the second consecutive year (in 2020 it was held in Agrate Conturbia, Novara), in Piemonte.
The start will be from 22 to 25 April in South Africa, with the Limpopo Championship, while the Grand Final will be played from 4 to 7 November, when the new king of the second European men's golf circuit will be crowned in Mallorca (Spain).
The Italian Challenge Open will be staged from 22nd to 25th July in Fubine Monferrato (Alessandria), an event that will offer a total prize money of 300,000 euros. The Margara Golf Club will welcome the awaited event, a club which, between 1981 and 2008, has already hosted 21 editions of the Challenge Tour with numerous big names. From Henrik Stenson (Olympic vice-champion at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Games) to Costantino Rocca, passing through Edoardo Molinari, who have performed over the years in a club with a great golfing tradition.
Challenge Tour 2021, calendarThe Challenge Tour 2021 will also offer 20 "cards" to get on the European Tour in 2022. There will be a total of 25 tournaments (over almost 7 months) that will be played in 15 different countries. For a circuit that saw five Italians graduating as champions of the order of merit: Giuseppe Calì (1990), Michele Reale (1997), Edoardo Molinari (2009), Andrea Pavan (2013) and Francesco Laporta (2019).
Meanwhile, The American Express of golf goes to Si Woo Kim. In La Quinta the south korean with two decisive birdies on holes 16 and 17 (the penultimate and third to last of the day), with a total of 265 (-23) overtakes Patrick Cantlay in the sprint and celebrates his third career title (after 164 events played) on the PGA Tour. For the american Cantlay, second with 266 (-22), it was not enough - with a bogey free final lap, underlined by a 61 (-11) and characterized by 11 birdies - to achieve the new record of the Stadium Course ( par 72) of the PGA West. In the end it was the 25 year old from Seoul, whose exploit allowed him to jump from 96th to 48th position in the world ranking.
