Women's Amateur, five italians in Augusta

The second edition of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship, scheduled from 31 March to 3 April 2021 (the tournament will be played over a distance of 54 holes), is "blue".

Italy in Georgia (USA) will drop five athletes. Among the protagonists in the competition, in the Masters in pink, there will also be Caterina Don, Benedetta Moresco, Alessia Nobilio, Emilie Alba Paltrinieri and Anna Zanusso. A historic milestone for the Italian Golf Federation, led by Franco Chimenti, Deputy Vice President of CONI, to crown the fruitful work undertaken by all the technical staff, starting with Anna Roscio, Coordinator of the National Women's Teams, and Roberto Zappa, Technical Commissioner. For a Federation strongly committed to the development of the “pink” movement through the “Golf è donna” project.

Women's Amateur, first edition

In 2019 the tournament - whose last round was played on the Augusta National course, among the temples of the "green" - was won by the American Jennifer Kupcho (now professional), the first to register her name in the roll of honor. Four italians also took part in the competition: with Don (who with a 12° final place was the best among the Italians) and Nobilio - expected this year for his second experience in as many editions - also Virginia Elena Carta and Alessandra Fanali. Then, in 2020, the event was canceled due to the health emergency. Meanwhile, Augusta National for the 85th edition of the Masters Tournament in April (8-11) in Georgia (USA) is looking for everything possible to try to guarantee a limited (and not yet established) presence of the public in the stands, in safety. Fred Ridley, chairman of Augusta National Golf Club, said that "following the successful conduct of the Masters Tournament last November with only essential personnel, we are confident in our ability to responsibly invite a limited number of patrons to Augusta National in April. As with the November Masters, we will implement practices and policies that will protect the health and safety of everyone in attendance. While we are disappointed that we will be unable to accommodate a full complement of patrons this year, we will continue our efforts to ensure that all who purchased tickets from Augusta National will have access in 2022, provided conditions improve".
