'The only difference is Rafael Nadal won 20 Slams', says top coach

Thanks to the comeback victory over Roberto Bautista Agut, Jannik Sinner is the new number 21 in the world and, a possible victory in the final, would bring the blue into the Top 15 and not far from the world Top Ten. As stated by Sinner himself, at the moment, the ranking is not a priority but what could become it in the coming weeks and in general in the coming months is the Race ranking, a ranking of the annual results that this year would bring an Italian to the Finals in Turin. This could be a great satisfaction for Sinner and for all Italian tennis fans. With yesterday's victory against Bautista Sinner he got other important points and in this moment, even if there is still a lot of missing, he would be one of the 8 players at the Finals in Turin. This year's numbers are excellent and Jannik Sinner is currently in sixth place ahead of tennis legends like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer and great tennis players like Dominic Thiem and German Alexander Zverev. In a recent interview, Jannik Sinner’s coach Riccardo Piatti talked about his success as a tennis player so far. He revealed that his recent training with Rafael Nadal really helped him a lot.

“Of course, I was very happy because you need to live with these guys [Rafael Nadal]. These guys are quite simple and focused about what they are doing and Jannik likes [this] and he understands that Rafa is quite similar to him,” said the coach in the interview. The coach also pointed out a difference between Rafa and Sinner and sarcastically mentioned that it was a small one. “The only difference is he [Rafa] won 20 Slams. Small difference,” added Piatti with a laugh. Recently, tournament director, James Blake, spoke about the nonappearance of the big three and felt that it was a great opportunity for the next generation of players to make the most of the situation. Blake stated, “It’s exciting because, on the men’s side, it’s been dominated for so long by Novak, Rafa, Roger, and Andy Murray. They’ve really dominated the sport for so long… Without any of them here, we’ve got the new kids that are arriving.” The 41-year-old former American player added, “To see who’s going to step up and who’s going to make their mark. We’ve got some really young players like Sinner and Korda, that’s exciting and who’s going to be the one to take over that mantle that Roger and Rafa and Novak have held for so long.”
