Roger Federer's path at the Roland Garros 2021

Roger Federer will participate in the 120th edition of the Roland Garros next week and his fans are looking forward to seeing him again on the pitch in one of the most important and prestigious events of the ATP Tour.

The Swiss champion has only played two tournaments in the past year and a half due to a knee injury that forced him to undergo double surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation. Federer played in the ATP 250 tournaments in Doha and Geneva.

In the Qatari event he reached the quarter-finals after beating Daniel Evans on his debut. Stopping his path in Doha was a surprising Nikoloz Basilashvili, who later won the tournament. In Geneva, however, Federer lost in the round of 16 against an excellent Pablo Andujar.

Roger Federer's draw at the Roland Garros 2021

The men's draw of Roland Garros was drawn and Federer was placed in the upper part together with Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. It is the first time in history that the Big Three will be part of the same portion of the draw in a Grand Slam tournament.

Federer, in particular, will challenge one of the players from the qualifiers in the first round, and the game could prove more complicated than expected if we consider that there are still players of the caliber of Carlos Alcaraz and Mackenzie Mcdonald in the race for a place in the main draw.

If he wins, Federer would then face one between Marin Cilic and Arthur Rinderknech, both of whom have appeared in more than acceptable form in recent events on red. The first seeded player in Federer's side is American Taylor Fritz, who reached the third round in Paris last year.

In the round of 16, all the Italians are hoping for a dream challenge, because Federer's path could cross with that of Matteo Berrettini, who, however, will have to overcome the Felix Auger-Aliassime's obstacle, coached by Toni Nadal.

If Federer were to go beyond the round of 16, we could see yet another chapter of the rivalries between the Big 3. Following the speech of the seeded players, in fact, the Swiss would cross Djokovic in the quarterfinals and then Nadal in the semifinals. Waiting for the official debut, Federer held a special training session in the company of one of the fittest tennis players of 2021, the Russian Aslan Karatsev.
