Wimbledon 2021: Andy Murray vs Basilashvili's MATCH-POINT
Four years after his defeat to Sam Querrey, Andy Murray is back at Wimbledon's Center Court. The two-time champion of the Championships plays a practically perfect match up to 6-3 6-4 5-0 against Nikoloz Basilasvili, in the first round of the tournament. The Briton, on his thirteenth appearance at the All England Club in his career, completely loses the support of the serve, feels fatigue, loses support, does not take advantage of a handful of match points at 5-3 and cannot even cling to the tie break.
Basilashvili, after a row of seven consecutive games, returning to the field after the closure of the roof, fails to move the zero from the point box in the first two rounds of service. Even if in the middle he places at least a break.
Murray, of heart and substance, then manages to defend the advantage available and to close after three hours.
