Anderson shares his thoughts on Federer, Nadal, Djokovic's dominance
Kevin Anderson believes there are good and bad aspects when it comes to the dominance of the Big Three – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. 'The three of them have won 50 Grand Slams,' Anderson told The Times of India. The South African lost to the Spaniard at the 2017 US Open final, and to the Serbian in the 2018 Wimbledon final. 'Their dominance has been unmatched. If they had not been around there would have been more Grand Slam winners, but at the same time tennis wouldn't have been the same sport that it is today.'
Anderson also added: 'It has been a great experience to be able to compete with these guys. It would be stupid to think of any other reality, because that is what the reality is. I have to accept the challenge and I have to figure out a way to beat these guys.'
On Wimbledon, introducing a tie-break on 12-all in the fifth set, Anderson said: 'It is good to see some kind of end point. I would have liked to have it at 6-all like a regular set. Probably, they wanted to distinguish it. 12-all can still get very long. You are basically playing six sets.'
On ATP Cup and Davis Cup co-existing despite having similar formats, the 32-year-old concluded: 'World Team Cup has been in existence before. Speaking in the last two years in the ATP, we felt that we had a great opportunity to have a team event to start our year off. There was a lot of frustration from the ITF, but … they have not been very accommodating. At the end of the day, they do their own thing. All we can do is control our own tour.'
