Roger Federer: 'I will push for a tennis event to stay in Perth'

Roger Federer will push for a tennis event to stay in Perth. The Hopman Cup is set to leave the tennis calendar in 2020 as the ATP Cup is likely to feature all the best top players, and Federer feels it's a pity considering that the Hopman Cup has been very successful so far attracting 106,000 people in the past edition.

'I think the venue too, the people who run this event, the sponsors, this city will keep International top tennis, I will try to support it as well because it deserves it', said Federer. 'The Hopman Cup has been very successful from the player, government and city standpoint, it's nice to see everybody chipping and trying their best. We will find out in the coming months what's gonna happen now, I think there is a lot of open questions not just around the Hopman Cup but just in general in the game. So I will be like you, I will be waiting to find out what's next. Western Australia is another small state, so we will find something, a corner and that's gonna be cool. I think it will stay in some house, there will be something going on in the future. Where, how and what, honestly we don't know. Will I come? I wish I could tell you, yes but I am super supportive of having tennis in Perth. That's should be the headline because that's really important to me and the people here.'
