Caroline Wozniacki recalls childhood experience with Venus Williams
In an interview during the ASB Classic in Auckland the world No. 3 Caroline Wozniacki recalled when she hit as a little girl with the tennis legend Venus Williams. The Dane is ten years younger than the American, and speaking this week to reporters Wozniacki said: "When I was 12 years old I hit for five minutes with Venus and that was an incredible experience. It got me so pumped for at least a couple of months when I came to practice every day. I was on cloud nine, it was an incredible experience, she was so graceful and so nice to me."
Asked how and if her life changed since her maiden Grand Slam title at the 2018 Australian Open, Wozniacki replied: "To be honest, my life doesn't change much. Obviously, it was something I really wanted, it was a big dream of mine to win a grand slam. It was an amazing feeling, it was an incredible two weeks, but after that it goes back to the same routine, practice, wake up, prepare, play, practice. Once you finish your career, that's when you really look back and you can be proud of all your accomplishments but for now, you always want to do better, you always want to accomplish more and do more."
Wozniacki will face Laura Siegemund in the ASB Classic of Auckland.
