Cash: When I watch Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, I end up shaking my head
Pat Cash believs that Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are all unique. In an interview to Khaleej Times, the 1987 Wimbledon champion said: 'They each have extraordinary gifts. When I watch them I end up shaking my head in disbelief at some of the audacious shots they try and they somehow manage to pull them off successfully.'
On the ATP introducing the first-to-four-games set at the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, Cash concluded: 'It's hard to say yet I feel strongly that it's important to keep some tradition and so the scoring system at the Grand Slams should remain. But new things need to be trialled at other events from time to time.'
Meanwhile, an Australian player, who is trying to breakthrough is Alex De Minaur, who was asked how it would feel to win Brisbane. De Minaur could face the 17-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals. 'It would be amazing but I like to take things day by day. I played some incredible tennis in Brisbane last summer and from there I gained momentum. I know the Brisbane crowd is one of the best and I’m looking forward to playing at Pat Rafter Arena again and leaving it all out there. I feel like I have the level in my game to push those top guys – maybe I can take one or two (wins) home next year. I’ve tried to enjoy the ride (this year).'
