Sascha Zverev on selfie with quokka: Mine are better than Roger Federer's

Instagram, reportedly, is the only social media platform where Alexander Zverev has an account. The German player regularly posts photos and videos there both during competition and off competition, in training and during the off-season.

Earlier this week in Perth during the Hopman Cup, the 21-year-old German and his teammate Angelique Kerber visited Rottnest Island, which is home to the quokka, a typical animal of the Western Australian region. Last year, Roger Federer took a selfie with a quokka, and that photo became viral worldwide. On Instagram, Zverev wrote: 'Hello my little friends. It was so nice to meet you today. Mine is better than Roger's.'

Speaking to the reporters, Zverev - who lost the 2018 Hopman Cup final with Angelique Kerber to Federer and Belinda Bencic - said: ''This is a place that I really like, that’s why I come here so early every year and kind of do my tennis preparations here. I’m happy to be back, I’m happy to be in Perth and playing inside this beautiful arena. I’m ready to get going.'

Kerber added: 'It’s great to be back. I have great memories of last year, playing the finals here and I’m excited to be back this year and hopefully we can do a little bit better. I love the country, I love Australia. I’m always looking forward to coming back.'

After her three-set win over Garbine Muguruza, Kerber had said: 'It’s just the beginning and I’m quite happy about how I played. For sure there are still some matches to come here but I won everything already so it’s not so bad.'
