Rafael Nadal overcoming Sampras's Majors was unimaginable, says Toni
Toni Nadal was asked if he thinks that we will see a player like his nephew Rafael again. The 57-year-old replied: 'I do not know, but it's clear that it will not be easy to see a 17-time Grand Slam champion, despite it's the truth that I would never imagine that my nephew would overcome Pete Sampras. Rafael made it because it was possible to do it, and it it's possible to do it, another one can repeat it. Another thing would be saying that it is easy or likely. I think it's not. But the most important thing is always trying overcome yourself, and then you see where you will get. You never know.'
Toni also spoke about the importance of being motivated to improve. 'I understand that the motivation is the same one or it should be the same in a single sport that is a team sport because the motivation is always single', said Toni. 'The circumstance that makes us appreciate it is that now when the motivation lacks things go bad. You cannot be saved by anything. When you are part of a team, your teammates can save you and replace you. But that's not the ideal thing. The motivation should always be the same one. It's an effort matter. This value seems the key to me because it's what gives me the most satisfaction.'
