Petra Kvitova: I don't have sensitivity in some parts of my hand

In a court in Brno, earlier in February, while testifying against the accused who is said to have attacked her at home in December 2016, Petra Kvitova recalled the incident. Kvitova said: “He asked me to turn on the hot water tap and at that moment I had a knife against my neck. I grabbed it with both hands. I held the blade with my left hand. I snatched it away, I fell on the floor and there was blood everywhere."
Kvitova also offered the man some money so that he stopped hurting her: “He asked how much I had. I said ten thousand crowns ($440) and he said ‘OK’. I gave him the money, he left and I called the ambulance and then the police."
Kvitova concluded: "When I saw the blood, I started blubbing. All the fingers on my left hand had been cut, and the nerves in my thumb and index finger severed. Even today, the mobility is not 100%. There is no sensitivity in the tips [of my thumb and index finger].”
The Prague native will play just one more tournament in February, the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship, and then Indian Wells and Miami in March.
After her loss to Naomi Osaka in Melbourne Kvitova said: "I think it's always a bit pressure from outside, as well, from yourself. You just want to play better. You're thinking like you have to win every single match because you just won a Grand Slam. That's how I was thinking actually. Yeah, I put a bit more pressure than I should."
