Bob Bryan congratulates Croatia on Davis Cup win, praises Marin Cilic

American tennis star Bob Bryan has congratulated Croatia on winning the 2018 Davis Cup title.

Croatia defeated France in an away tie on the clay of Lille 3-1 to claim its second Davis Cup title.

2014 US Open champion Cilic came up big when needed most as he secured two wins for his side over the weekend.

Cilic handed a straight-set defeat to French Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the second rubber of the tie before he handed a straight-set set loss to Lucas Pouille in the fourth rubber of the tie to put an end to French hopes of winning it all.

While draped in a Croatian flag, Cilic said post-match, per Reuters: "It's not every day that you become a world champion. For us, it's a dream come true, for this nation. You can see the fans are so passionate and they are here enjoying themselves. In Croatia, it's going to be incredible too."

In the remaining two ties, Croatian Borna Coric beat Jeremy Chardy and France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut beat Croatian duo Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavic.

"Congrats to Croatia on the Davis Cup victory. I’m always impressed with the humility and class that Marin Cilic shows in victory and in defeat," 2007 Davis Cup champion Bryan wrote on Twitter.

Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic, the 2010 Davis Cup champion, has also congratulated Croatia on winning the title: "Big congrats to Croatia for winning Davis Cup!"
