Andy Murray plans to arrive in Brisbane week before Brisbane International

Former world No. 1 Andy Murray is planning to arrive in Brisbane a week before the Brisbane International kicks off.

The Brisbane event will take place in the opening week of the 2019 season as it is due to be held from 31 December - 06 January.

Murray, 31, is set to make his third appearance in Brisbane.

The Scot has never lost a match in Brisbane, having won back-to-back titles at the tournament in 2012 and 2013.

Murray was scheduled to return to Brisbane this past January but a hip injury prevented him from doing so.

The Scot's last tournament of the 2017 season was Wimbledon as he was hoping to heal a hip injury for the start of the 2018 season.

The three-time Grand Slam champion's initial plan was to arrive in Brisbane a week before the start of the tournament.

Murray's plan of arriving in Brisbane a week before the tournament fell short but he eventually flew to Australia, only to realize he wasn't ready to compete.

However, this time Murray is healthy as he should reach Brisbane a week before the start of the tournament if nothing unexpected happens in the meantime.

Giving himself time to the adjust to the Brisbane conditions could be crucial in Murray's bid to make a good start to the season as Rafael Nadal, Grigor Dimitrov, Kei Nishikori, Milos Raonic, Jo Wilfried Tsonga, as well as rising stars Nick Kyrgios, Kyle Edmund, Daniil Medvedev are also set to play in Brisbane.
