Coming back from injury, Simona Halep targets Major glory in 2019
In a recent interview, the world No. 1 Simona Halep commented on the Christmas time and her goals for the 2019 season. The 27-year-old Romanian player has been practicing for a couple of weeks now and she hopes to be ready in time for the Sydney International that starts one week before the Australian Open in January. 'I decided to stay close to my family this year. I will be in Constantia with to enjoy a party. It's always a strange and quick holiday. I spent the Christmas in Australia two years ago', said Halep. 'It was 30-35 degrees. It's totally different. I was lucky to have good people around. Two years ago I was with Darren Cahill's family. For 2019 I would want the health. I want to get good results, have nice moments. I want to do a good job in Fed Cup and stay on the first ranking position, besides having great results on in Grand Slams.'
On how Christmas was during her childhood, Halep added: 'We met with all the cousins, uncles. We spent a lot of time together. It did not change a lot, but the home is not the same. We are a good family.'
