Elina Svitolina: 'Being a good example for younger people is important'
In an interview to Punto de Break, Elina Svitolina commented on the upcoming 2019 season and her tennis career. 'My main goals keep being the same: winning the Grand Slams and becoming the world No. 1', said the Odessa native. 'I am constantly working on it, since the beginning of my tennis career. I already got used to the pressure and I constantly deal with it. I have a certain experience in how to do it and I think this experience will help in the important tournaments.'
Svitolina added: 'I follow my path on the Tour and I try focusing on tennis. I try to give my best during matches and training sessions. I think it will help me to accomplish my goals.'
She has been a Nike Ambassador since January 2016. 'Nike is a great company with amazing traditions. They always consider the interests of players and they satisfy all our requests. I am very happy to have this endorsement.'
Svitolina was also asked her thoughts on some tennis players getting angry on court like Nick Kyrgios: 'The best players are always under big pressure from the crowd, any of their steps can cause a lot of comments. It's obvious that every player has his/her own path on the Tour and attitude towards tennis. In my opinion, being a good example is very important for the younger players and keeping the fair play. Like any other kind of sport, tennis can get a lot of people together. That's why I believe that top players need to give a good example to younger people.'
