I won’t be surprised if Roger Federer plays at Roland Garros - Former coach
In an interview to Tennis365, Roger Federer's former coach Paul Annacone commented on the possibility to see the 20-time Grand Slam winner playing the clay season next year. 'I have no idea what Roger is planning,' said Annacone. 'But I won’t be surprised at all if he plays at Roland Garros. He loves Paris and has hasn’t played the last couple of years. There’s no reason he can’t do well there, again it’s about his schedule. Where will he take a break if he plays there?'
Federer took a two-and-a-half months' break both in 2017 and 2018, from early April to mid-June. Commenting on the other biggest players, Annacone added: 'Well, Rafa (Nadal) has to stay healthy. On clay, Rafa is still the man to beat. If he stays confident he should push Novak (Djokovic) on all surfaces - if his health is good. For Roger, he needs to manage his schedule and health. It’s going to be tougher against Novak and Rafa on slower surfaces, he has to be at his best there. On grass, Roger is still capable of beating everyone even when he isn’t at his best,' concluded Annacone.
