Ashleigh Barty's slice backhand compared to Roger Federer's

Commenting on Channel 9, the former world No. 1 doubles player Todd Woodbridge praised Ashleigh Barty's slice backhand comparing it to the Roger Federer's. Woodbridge, speaking during the Australian player's win over, used the word 'Federesque'. Woodbridge also praised Barty's fighting spirit: “There’s a difference between outplaying your opponent and intimidating them,” he said.

Co-commentator Sam Smith added: “The best players in the women’s game are so good at getting that break straight back. Of course, the best of those is Serena Williams."

In a recent interview, Federer commented on how it felt to face Serena Williams in a mixed doubles match at the Hopman Cup of Perth earlier this month. "It was a wonderful atmosphere, one I’d been looking forward for some time", admitted the world No. 3. "I had a bad serve percentage against her… it must have had something to do with Serena’s aura. I’m not kidding. She’s a wonderful player… but we won in the end so I was happy about that, too!"
