Australian Open day 9 recap: super Rafael Nadal, new records and ..

Rafael Nadal knows no obstacles at the Australian Open 2019. The Spaniard has dismissed Frances Tiafoe in three sets, and will now play the semi-final against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Roger Federer's executioner. In the semi-final also Petra Kvitova and the surprising Danielle Collins.

Serena Williams wants the 24 Majors titles, but in the meantime, the US has already beaten another record. In fact, after the three sets win against Simona Halep, she became the oldest player able to beat a world number 1, surpassing the previous record that belonged to her sister Venus.

Naomi Osaka revealed that she was incredulous of Stefanos Tsitsipas' victory against Roger Federer: "I follow the young tennis players. When Tsitsipas beat Roger, I was incredulous. It is everyone's dream to win against the great champions".

We would like to close again with Alexander Zverev. The German smashed his racket in the fourth round loss at the Australian Open. In a press conference, he commented laconically but sincerely on this episode: "It made me feel better. I was very angry and I let my anger out."

Tomorrow the last quarter-finals of men and women's singles. Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, Novak Djokovic and Kei Nishikori will take to the court.
