Boris Becker: 'I like Simona Halep a lot, but I don't want to coach again'

In a recent interview the six-time Grand Slam winner Boris Becker commented once again on the rumours that possibly indicated him as the new Simona Halep's coach. Becker clarified he went to Romania to attend a party held by his former manager Ion Tiriac, and there he casually met Halep. 'I attended a party in Romania to make my friend Ion Tiriac happy', said Becker. 'I like Simona Halep a lot, but I do not want to be a coach or consultant. There isn't any truth about the informations shared by the press.'

Halep's PR told ProSport: 'There is nothing real, Becker's appearance was just a surprise.'

Becker also commented on the favorites to win the Australian Open women's singles title: 'Simona has the best serve on tour while she has not the best forehand. She was injured for a lot of time and she did not play for a while. I see Kerber at the same level as her and do not forget that Serena is still at a high level. You will not have to forget Caroline Wozniacki either, and Muguruza is improving. Someone like Pliskova can win title, instead Sharapova is not the favorite. She needs to show to compete against more players.'
