Difference between Nadal and De Minaur is on ball heaviness - Philippoussis

The 2003 Wimbledon finalist Mark Philippoussis commented on the differences between Rafael Nadal and Alex De Minaur. The Spaniard won a straight-set third round match over the 19-year-old on Friday last week in Melbourne.

Philippoussis, speaking to World Wide Sports, said he feels De Minaur will make some huge improvements. 'I feel like he’ll hit the ball a little bit harder. But these top guys, Rafa’s just not gonna miss. Rafa’s just as fast - the difference is that heaviness on the ball and how he can hurt guys is a different story, and (De Minaur) showed he didn’t really do anything to kind of change-up, to hurt Rafa. He was kind of doing the same thing, and Rafa is not going to lose too many of those matches. But, look, he has an incredibly bright future, and they’re things he’s going to work on and get better, without a doubt. Popyrin’s got a big serve, he’s a big guy, maybe 6’5”. I haven’t watched too much except the last match he played, and, look, he showed a lot of heart. He was battling out there, he’s hungry, he’s excited, he’s got weapons, big serve that’ll only improve in the next couple of years as he physically gets stronger.'
