Djokovic's movement can only be equalled by the best Nadal, says Becker
In an interview to DN, the six-time Grand Slam winner Boris Becker revealed what is special about Novak Djokovic. Becker, who worked with the Serb from 2013 to 2016 helping him to win six Grand Slam titles, said: "I will start with his champion's mentality. Novak knows how to win. Then I think his on-court movement gets equalled only by the best Nadal's. And when he hits the ball, he exactly knows where to place it. Overall, I think there is nothing that we can indicate as weakness in his game: he has a good serve, his return and serve are probably the best in planet, his volley is good, as well as the slice... Against him, at the best of five sets, it will be a four-five clash for anyone who aspires to beat him and just a few players have the necessary determination for this fight against him."
What does Djokovic particularly like about playing at the Australian Open? 'He likes the central court, I think he liked the Rod Laver and night matches there. And it's a good time of the year to go in Melbourne, in the middle of the European winter. Also, it was his first Grand Slam title.'
Becker concluded: 'He is a game student. He can say who he won and how many times. He consistently tries to improve, he does not consider as perfect any game. He always wants to play better, even after a lot of titles. I think that with Roger and Rais is the same. And Novak loves competing, it's in his blood and nature.'
