I had never seen Rafael Nadal as heartbroken as in 2018 - Zurutuza

Four top ten players are committed to the Mexican Open in Acapulco that takes place from 25 February to 2 March 2019. Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, Kevin Anderson and John Isner will play, while the defending champion Juan Martin del Potro is in doubt. The Argentine, who defeated Anderson in last year's final, suffered a knee injury at the Shanghai Masters and he plans to come back to compete in Delray Beach in February. Del Potro could play in Acapulco through a main draw wild card. 'He is confirmed for Delray Beach, which I think it will be his test. What he posted on a social network is very good, but you do not have to forget that it was a fracture', said the Acapulco Tournament Director Raul Zurutuza. 'Who knows well is him and if decides to play in Acapulco he will be welcome as always. People would like it a lot because we will see a healthy Juan Martin. Hopefully, it goes well and if he does well enough to play Acapulco he will get a wild card.'

On Nadal's comeback after 2018 withdrawal due to a hip injury, Zurutuza added: 'I think that in terms of sports topics it's a little revenge for all what happened last year. I had never seen him so heartbroken like when he told me that he had to withdraw from the tournament and in Australia, I saw him healthy, he played well. He has a very important fanbase and it's great that he is returning', added Zurutuza.
