I will be cheering for Andy Murray at the Australian Open, says Zverev
Through an Instagram post the world No. 4 Alexander Zverev paid a great tribute to Andy Murray who will retire this year. Zverev turned back the clock to a few years ago. 'Right before the Australian Open start, I want to throw it back to the 2016 Australian Open when I played one of the best players and a true legend of our sport, Andy Murray.. All of us will have a time where we have to say goodbye to the sport we love so much and I want to wish you all the best for the last period of your career. We as players know how much you've been thru the last few months and years and we all really hope that you can enjoy playing and competing hopefully a few more times. At the end of the day, we are all competitors but we are also one big family on the tour that's why I want to wish you all the best for your last Australian open. I will be watching and cheering for sir Andy.'
The Great Britain Prime Minister Theresa May: 'Andy Murray has had a fantastic career and time and time again has made this nation proud. We all hope we can see much more of him playing this year and when he does finish, he will be remembered as one of the best and most successful athletes of his or any generation.'
Kyle Edmund: "Nobody has done more for British tennis than you and it looks like nobody will for many years to come. You have been an inspiration, friend and role model to me from the get go and I thank you for everything. Hope to see you out there for as long as possible."
Darren Cahill: "When you search for examples of “emptied the bucket to be as good as they could be” there should be a picture of Andy Murray sitting under that quote. Remarkable discipline for training, competition, sacrifice, perfection, a little crazy 😃 but a legend of a bloke. Bravo Andy."
