Novak Djokovic likely to overtake Roger Federer's 20 Majors: Obradovic
For former Serbian Davis Cup team captain Bogdan Obradovic, Novak Djokovic has the highest chances to overtake Roger Federer's 20 Grand Slam titles. Obradovic believes that the Serb can be injury-free for the next years, having a light schedule. After the Australian Open, Djokovic is not committed to play any event until Indian Wells in March.
Speaking to The Times of India, Obradovic said: 'Novak is the one player who saves his body. He is not injured that much except for that one elbow injury. He has the power of the mind, the team he has around him, his family all that is going to help play his best in the next five years at the highest level. That means he will be competing in 20 Grand Slams, which is a big chance for Novak to make his results better than Federer. It's simple mathematics, out of 20 Grand Slams hopefully he can win at least five or six titles.'
After his win over Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final on Sunday, 27th January, Djokovic is now third behind Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in the list of most number of Grand Slam titles won with 15. He has won three straight Slams – 2018 Wimbledon, 2018 US Open and now, the 2019 Australian Open. If he wins the French Open this year, he will have won all four Slams at the same time for the second time in his career. The way he is playing, Djokovic looks to surpass both Federer (20 Slams) and Nadal (17 Slams) as the player with the most number of Grand Slam titles.
