Novak Djokovic praises Stefanos Tsitsipas for great win over Roger Federer

In press conference at the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic commented on Stefanos Tsitsipas's win over Roger Federer at the Australian Open. The Swiss player wasted a set point that would have make him go leading two sets to love and from then the Greek delivered a brilliant tennis.

'Roger and Stefanos played a great match,' said Djokovic. 'I watched some part of it, and the quality of tennis was fantastic, I thought. It was a really great match to see and for them obviously to play, as well. Stefanos showed great maturity and ability to cope with pressure, you know, in those moments when obviously it's Roger and crowd and support and everything that is happening. Considering everything that he was going against, Tsitsipas did phenomenally well. You know, for someone that is 20 years old, it's definitely very impressive. You know, I wish him all the best the rest of the tournament. Roger also played well, but it was very -- it was very close match. One or two points have decided.'

Tsitsipas backed his win over Federer with another four-set win over Roberto Bautista Agut in their quarter-final on Tuesday. The Greek will play Rafael Nadal in the semi-final. Nadal defeated Frances Tiafoe in straight sets in the quarter-final, played on Tuesday, in the evening session. Tsitsipas is the youngest semi-finalist at a Major since Novak Djokovic who reached the 2007 US Open semi-final (lost to Federer). He is also the youngest semi-finalist at the Australian Open since Andy Roddick in 2003 (lost to Rainer Schuttler).
