Pat Cash: 'Novak Djokovic is phenomenal, unbelievable'

The 1987 Wimbledon champion Pat Cash praised Novak Djokovic in an interview to Channel 9. Speaking after the Serb's four-set win over Daniil Medvedev, Cash spoke highly of the world No. 1's fighting spirit.

'He really had tough moments in his match last night and Medvedev played brilliantly for three sets. It was a marathon match. He is so tough mentally, he lost the second set, he struggled for the first couple of games over the third set, I think then he won four points in a row, he broke his opponent and from then he went on a roll. Heading into the match Medvedev said that Novak is not the player he used to be, and actually, his play is not the same but better. He did the impossible winning four Grand Slams in a row, not in the one year but four in a row, arguably the greatest feat in tennis history. He won two Grand Slams (last year), Wimbledon and US Open, he was pretty untouchable, then in the last matches of the year, he lost the ATP Finals. He is phenomenal. I talked to him before an exhibition match last year. I said: "How are you doing?" He said: "I have been feeling pain in my elbow for months". And I said, "Oh okay, it will take a long time to heal". And six months after he got two Grand Slams under his belt. Unbelievable.'
