Bernard Tomic withdraws from Dallas Challenger

Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic be returning to the Dallas Challenger after an eight-year absence as he has withdrawn from the American Challenger event.

The Dallas Challenger is due to take place from February 04-10.

In his lone appearance at the Dallas Challenger -- which came in 2011 -- the 26-year-old was forced to retire his first round clash to American Alex Bogomolov while he was 5-2 down during the first set.

However, Tomic is expected to return to competitive action at the Delray Beach Open -- where he has played four times in the main draw of the tournament so far in his career.

The Australian's best result at the Delray Beach event came in 2015 -- when he made the semi-final, before losing to American Donald Young.

The Delray Beach Open has been scheduled to be held from February 18-24.

Meanwhile, Tomic isn't the only player who has withdrawn from the Dallas Challenger as Japan's Yosuke Watanuki, USA's Tommy Paul, Darian King of Barbados, Colombia's Santiago Giraldo and Victor Estrella Burgos have done the same.
