Canadian players reach out to Brayden Schnur following his New York success
Several Canadian tennis players reached out to Brayden Schnur following his great New York Open campaign.
Schnur, 23, fell just short of winning his maiden ATP title at the New York event last week.
The Canadian earned his place in the New York main draw after winning two qualifying matches.
The 23-year-old's fine form continued in the main event of New York as he won four more matches, before losing to rising American star Reilly Opelka in the final.
Schnur fought hard in the final as saved five match points, before Opelka converted his sixth match point to claim a tight win 6-1 6-7 (7) 7-6 (7).
2016 Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic, rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime, former world No. 25 Vasek Pospisil, as well as former tennis player Philipp Bester, all reached out to Schnur after his New York campaign ended.
🇨🇦 Brayden Schnur said the first Canadian player to reach out to him after the New York Final was 🇨🇦 Felix Auger-Aliassime... Called him an awesome kid & great for the sport...Said he's also heard from 🇨🇦 Milos Raonic 🇨🇦 Vasek Pospisil & 🇨🇦 Philip Bester as well #ATP #DBOpen

Schnur improved his ranking by 47 spots following his New York campaign as he is now enjoying his career-high ranking of No. 107 in the world.
Unfortunately for the Canadian, he failed to continue his great form at this week's Delray Beach Open as the seven matches played in New York took a toll on him.
Schnur's Delray Beach debut didn't go as planned as he suffered a 6-2 6-2 first round loss against French Adrian Mannarino.
