Giannis Antetokounmpo: 'Tsitsipas will become the Greek freak in few years'
Born in December 1994, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been one of the best players in the NBA in the last couple of years, competing for Milwaukee Bucks in the previous six years and earning many awards. Equipped with great athleticism, skills and stamina, Giannis received the NBA Most Improved Player award in 2017, entering All-NBA Second Team in 2017 and 2018 and securing a spot at the All-Star for three straight years as one of the most popular players of the Eastern Division. Improving his game steadily, a Greek player of Nigerian descent had become the first ever in NBA who managed to finish the season in the top-20 in five different categories (points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks) back in 2017, scoring more than 26 points per game in the last two seasons.
At the age of 24, Antetokounmpo has already added almost 8000 points, more than 3500 rebounds and 1770 assists, preparing himself for the third All-Star game. After the most recent win over Toronto Raptors, journalists asked Giannis about one of the most prominent young tennis stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and probably the second most famous sportsman from Greece at the moment. Basketball star admitted he doesn't have a chance to watch tennis that often but he thinks Stefanos will be among the best players in the world in a couple of years, calling him another Greek freak!
The 20-year-old is currently ranked 12th in the world after recent success in Melbourne where he reached the semi-final, beating Roger Federer in the fourth round before losing to Rafael Nadal in straight sets. Stefanos had a great finish of 2018, winning the maiden ATP title in Stockholm and also the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan, receiving the ATP Most Improved Player of the Year award and setting even higher goals for 2019 that has already been very prosperous for him.
“Tsitsipas is really good at what he does. The sky is the limit for him. At around 2020-2021 he is going to be one of the best tennis players in the world. We are going to have another Greek freak - in tennis,” Antetokounmpo said.
