I knew Roger Federer would have played on clay again, says Grosjean

In an interview during the Marseille Open, the former world No. 4 Sebastien Grosjean commented on Roger Federer's comeback to the clay-courts. The Swiss player will compete in Madrid and at the French Open this year. "I knew he would have played on clay, the break was too long, it's beautiful, he wants to play the French Open, we will see him in Paris, it's great. He rules the game, it was difficult not to see him play in the last two years on clay, he fixed his calendar again which is good. I think we all have the same opinion", said Grosjean.

He also spoke about his role as France's Davis Cup captain: "I did a lot of phone calls with players and their team, I also met them in Montpellier and yesterday (Tuesday) I spoke with Gael Monfils when he finished his commitments with media. He wants to play, which is good, and then we will see how he will be doing physically at the end of the season. I want to have the best possible team, I saw Gael playing last week in Rotterdam and he was so good."

Grosjean also said that he will reunite the players and the whole French Davis Cup team in April before the Monte Carlo Masters to speak together and train together. He was also impressed with the 20-year-old Ugo Humbert's progresses: "He got his second match win on Tour after Metz."
