Milos Raonic: After a good start, can he continue good run in 2019?

2019 started very well for Milos Raonic. The Canadian, led by the wise management of Goran Ivanisevic, reached the quarter-finals of Brisbane where he lost against Daniil Medvedev and the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, where he was eliminated by Lucas Pouille.

It must be said that in Melbourne, Raonic eliminated opponents such as Nick Kyrgios, Stan Wawrinka, Pierre-Huges Herbert and Alexander Zverev showing excellent tennis, purposeful, offensive and solid. All that he failed to do in 2018. The defeat against Pouille in the Australian was surprising, but it came only after a tough fight.

If from a physical point of view, Raonic seems fresher and more athletically fit, we still expect the fruits of Ivanisevic's work on the mental aspect of his player. Something good has already been shown in Australia. Now, at the Masters 1000 of Indian Wells and Miami, Raonic will have the chance to get other significant good results, gaining points and confidence.

Raonic must break down the barrier that limits him; to get good placings like quarter-finals, and get some hard hits. Up to now, he has only partially succeeded in this. If his body also holds well, Raonic could try and do well at the Slams, too. Especially at Wimbledon, where in 2016, he reached the final (lost to Andy Murray). Perhaps in 2019, there will be many more chances for him to recreate new career highs.
