'Novak Djokovic can definitely break Roger Federer's Majors record' - Agent
In an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport Novak Djokovic's agent, Edoardo Artaldi commented on the Serbian player's comeback at the highest level. First of all, Artaldi, an Italian guy, was asked if Djokovic can catch and break Roger Federer's 20 Grand Slam titles record. "First of all other five Grand Slam titles are many and Roger is still playing so he could get the streak longer. Novak is definitely fit again after the elbow injury, he reached a new balance, he is a serene, joyful and peaceful man. This goal is definitely within his possibilities", said Artaldi.
Would Artaldi ever imagine, when they started working together in 2009, that Djokovic would have 15 Major crowns? 'I was dreaming about it, because the man and the player had amazing qualities. But at the time Federer and Nadal were dominating tennis and Murray was coming up. Maybe thinking about 15 Slams, since until there he had won just one, could look like something very far away and unreachable but Novak definitely earned it.'
Artaldi and Elena Cappellaro, the two Djokovic's agents, were the only team members that stayed with Novak when he split with coach Marian Vajda, fitness trainer and physiotherapist in 2017. 'When you go through a difficult moment you clearly put the technical part in doubt. He may have seen me as a general manager of his company, then between us, there is big respect and a serene conversation on anything, besides an effect and a feeling that goes beyond the working relationship and that got strengthen after ten years of common life.'
