'Roger Federer is the perfect player' - WTA player
In press conference in St. Petersburg Ekaterina Alexandrova was asked to draw her perfect tennis player. Alexandrova replied: 'This is (Roger) Federer. He is simply perfect. Perfect in everything. It does not matter how you look at him: the shots are good as well as the forehand and backhand', said Alexandrova.
And on the women's side? 'Here it's tougher. It looks that in the women's tennis it's not needed: one day you can play simply great, the other day not so much. And so everyone can beat everyone, so I do not know. In women's tennis, for some reasons, there isn't one like Federer."
A reporter asked Alexandrova about her brother and sister who both started playing tennis. "But it did not work. My sister switched to basketball and my brother to football and then hockey in the end.'
In a conference call in Prague Petra Kvitova, who is competing in St. Petersburg too, revealed Simona Halep sent her a lot of support following the Czech player's loss to Naomi Osaka in the Australian Open final. 'Simona called me thrice during the tournament. She was one of the few who sent me messages of support. It was very nice from her side. I am happy that at a high level there is room for such relationship between rivals', said Kvitova, who will take a week off as she will not play the Fed Cup before turning her focus on Doha and Dubai.
