Rome Open tells Roger Federer why he should play there

In a column, the SuperTennis TV Director Piero Valesio shared an article through the Rome Open website inviting Roger Federer to play the Italian tournament again. The Swiss will play just one event on clay prior to the French Open, and many reasons could lead him to pick Rome. 'While you are recovering from the disappointment of Melbourne and you are reflecting on your short-term future, we of the Rome Open really hope that you decide, over these hours, to come to Rome', Valesio wrote. 'You last played there two years ago and we would have liked to see you also only as a turist or legend in Rome, since you wrote the history of the game. And instead you will play on clay again: in Paris and in a tournament prior to that, according to what your big friend Seve Luthi told your compatriots.

Why should you play in Rome? The court conditions are similar to Rome, and you know it. You also said that this year you wanted to enjoy yourself, but what better place than Rome can allow yourself to enjoy? Here everybody loves you, also the people who may cheer for your rivals. They are looking forward to see you on the Central Court again. And we would also love to make you give a look at how the tournament improved lately. You could also enjoy some pizza and get involved in the attempt to win the title, after losing four finals. You may face Rafa again, in another chapter of your rivalry: or maybe beating a Next Gen player who are trying to challenge you. Think about it Roger and then make we know it."
