Serena Williams is like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, says Pennetta

In an interview to Eurosport, the former top ten player Flavia Pennetta made a comparison between Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. All of them do not play too many matches throughout the year, but they still manage to get far in the big tournaments. Both the American and the Spaniard headed in the 2019 season with no matches played since the US Open. Pennetta said: 'Serena is like Rafa and Roger. They are players who are so strong and above not only tennis-wise but especially mentally. Their head is above all the others. Rafa thinks differently, the way he thinks he is and how much he is worth. You cannot ask him how he will do after not competing for a long time. For him or for her it's the same thing. They can struggle because it's normal - they can go through bad feelings - but if they keep practicing, good times will come.'

On Alexander Zverev's ups and down, Pennetta added: 'He plays well in the other tournaments. In the Grand Slams he probably feels so many big goals goals and expectations that he fails. This is the worst thing you can do. You have to hidden yourself a little bit, not thinking about what others want from you and be happy with what you are. At the best of five sets you can be tired, but you always have the chance to comeback. Like Rafa was saying, Zverev can't handle all the pressure he puts on himself. I feel that whaever he does is not enough. "He is so strong but...". He is 21 years old, what do we want more? He will feel a little bit blocked in these tournaments.'
