Week 6: three ATP tournaments and the Fed Cup!

The sixth week of 2019 promises to be very interesting and full of events. Many men tennis players will be on the courts between Europe and South America, while during the weekend (February 9th - February10th) the quarterfinals of the Fed Cup 2019 will take place.

In detail, the men's tournaments (all ATP World Tour 250) will be played in Montpellier, Sofia and Cordoba, the first two on hard indoor, the last one on clay. At the Open Sud de France 2019, Lucas Pouille leads the seeding. There will also be David Goffin, Denis Shapovalov, Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. It will be interesting to see the state of shape of Berdych and Tsonga, after the firsts good matches of 2019.

At the Sofia Open, Karen Khachanov laeds the draw. With him, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Daniil Medvedev, Stan Wawrinka and Gael Monfils. At the Cordoba Open, on clay, Fabio Fognini and Marco Cecchinato will be seed no. 1 and seed no. 2. With them, Diego Schwartzman and Pablo Carreno-Busta.

The Fed Cup quarter-finals are: Czech Republic-Romania, in Ostrava, in Czech Republic, France-Belgium, in Liege, in Belgium, Germany-Belarus, in Braunschweig, in Germany and USA-Australia, in Asheville, in USA. The winners of the first two challenge will meet each others in the top-half semifinal, so the winners of the last two meetings will fight in the bottom-half semifinal.

It will be a week full of events, with many champions engaged on the courts, and that drag us inside the month of February, month during which we will understand something more about the state of the shape of some expected protagonists, both men and women.
