Being away from his son is getting tougher for Fabio Fognini - Insider

In an interview to Sky Sport, the former world No. 25 singles player Filippo Volandri commented on Fabio Fognini's straight-set loss to Radu Albot in the Indian Wells Masters. The Italian last won a match in January at the Australian Open and he has been losing all the last five matches he played in. "It wasn't a good match by Fabio", said Volandri. "I know Fabio is training well, I know he went through a complicated time where he was less motivated and it makes him being strict on the court. He feels some pressure. Despite you think that a player like him at 30 years of age with his ranking position should not feel it, he is. He had a good reaction in the second set, still."

The Italian is instead doing well in doubles winning two matches so far with Novak Djokovic: "Nole can definitely give him some suggestion. I thought it was a good thing for him to play doubles with Novak. Fabio is 30 years old, world No. 17 and last year he had already asked himself if he has to follow this type of schedule. I think he plays too much, he makes a difference in the biggest tournaments and he should review that South American swing in February. After the Australian Open, I spoke with him and he told me that being far from his house, from ho son becomes more complicated."

Fognini will play the Miami Open next where he reached the 2017 semifinals
