Everyone loves and respect Roger Federer, says tennis coach

In an interview during the Marseille Open, the tennis coach Daniel Costantini spoke about tennis in general and players as well. "I worked with Jean-Francois Caujolle and Bernard Fritz between 1978 and 1981. They were in a club called Municipal Sports Club and they had a Hungarian coach, Joseph Stolpa, who was a legend at technique level. One day he called me asking me if I could help him coaching some players on a physical level. I accepted and less by less it became more important. It lasted three years until when I broke a little because their requests could not coincide with my EPS work and my limits as a physical coach. So I left in 1981."

On his career as professional and then amateur, Costantini added: "I played a lot after stopping in 1973, because of my knees. I played some tournaments but I did not have a lot of time and I was not particularly talented! When you figure out tennis at 25 years, you are a little bit stubborn and you refuse taking lessons. But it's a sport that always attracted me."

On the best players of the game, Costantini concluded: "I will not speak of Roger Federer, it's not worth because everyone loves and respect Federer! With Novak Djokovic, I find a fighting spirit that I knew in handball with ex Yugoslavia players. As for Rafael Nadal, for who loves high sports performances, he releases a crazy energy. However, I often have favorites who we do not think of necessarily. Lately I have been completing Gilles Simon's career. He is a promotion for tennis. He is not a big athlete, but he is an athlete with all tactics, technique and working ethics."
