I want Roger Federer to win Miami Open so badly, says Hantuchova
The former world No. 5 Daniela Hantuchova would love to see Roger Federer winning his fourth Miami Open title. The Basel native played 11 matches over the last three weeks and a half between Dubai and Indian Wells, but he heads into Miami being confident. “I’ll still go with Roger. I just want him to win so badly", said Hantuchova speaking on Amazon Prime.
The former world No. 4 Greg Rusedski believes that Federer is not the top favourite: "Novak Djokovic is going to reemerge. I think he’s got to be the favourite for the title because [his coach] Marian Vajda is back in town. He would have flown in early so he’s the man to beat. Dominic Thiem is going to have another good week because the conditions are slow and windy."
"From a British perspective I think Edmund and Dan Evans are going to do brilliantly again as well", added Rusedski. "It looked like Edmund got his mojo back having won seven matches in a row and he looks healthy. So I think I cannot wait for Miami to start. I’m going, Djokovic. Novak is going to make a statement."
The tennis expert Catherine Whitaker believes that the five-set battle against Rafael Nadal in the US Open semifinals was the key for Dominic Thiem to gain self-belief and go on to conquer his maiden Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells defeating Roger Federer in a three-set final. “I do think that match against Nadal at the US Open paved the way for this. I know he lost it but it was such an enormous breakthrough for him on this surface. I really think that without what happened that day, we might not have seen what happened against Federer in the final", Whitaker said on The Tennis Podcast.
