Rafael Nadal was unbelievable in 2008 Wimbledon final, says Roger Federer

In a press conference Roger Federer recalled his 2008 Wimbledon final loss to Rafael Nadal. The Swiss lost it 9-7 in the fifth set after four hours and 46 minutes, and he deeply reflected on that epic meeting.

"There is some matches in your career that you look back on and you are so happy and proud that you were part of it", said Federer. "The 2008 Wimbledon final was one of the greatest matches of all time, people still talks about it, it's just special being part of that and you start to feel that once you enter an epic fourth or fifth set and you realize that the world is still standing around you and everybody is just glued to their TV and maybe the match should have been interrupted in the end because of darkness but you cannot interrupt that kind of match right then, because people want to see this epic finish and that's what happened. I do not see it that way, I see it as something more positive because I already had won five or six Wimbledons prior to that, so i was naturally super disappointed in that but thankfully I have had some of those incredible matches not just against Rafa but other players too which connects you forever with that player or with that venue, with that center court, with the fans and that's what I think it's so beautiful about sports in general, you just do not know the outcome and you see the different styles against each other, the fairness hopefully as well which was the case in that match and that was perfect."
