Roger Federer's 100 titles are worth more than Jimmy Connors's 109 -Panatta

In an interview on his YouTube Channel the former French Open winner Adriano Panatta commented on Roger Federer winning his 100th career-title in Dubai. The Italian said: "By saying every time he loses that he is finished or that he is born when he wins, you cannot cope with it. Federer is an eternal player for what he did, he still has some goals after winning his 100th career-title. Jimmy Connors won 109 but many of the tournaments won were little ones in the United States, so Federer's crowns are much more important. The thing is not that Federer plays less important events to achieve that goal, he plays the major tournaments to show that he can win them. This year he will try to win Wimbledon and he committed to the French Open, which is a strange thing to me. Either he did it to practice because playing on clay you train physically as well because of matches last longer, they are much tougher and they are a good training even if it makes me smile that you play a Grand Slam to practice. But Federer is like this, he is immense also for such decisions. I am a big fan of him and I really wish he can beat this record by playing a big tournament and not a small one because otherwise, he would win too easily."

Federer instead has a different opinion than Panatta. When asked if the Connors's 109 titles have a less big value because 59 of them were 250s, the Swiss replied: "Who cares. Just a title. The 250s are not easy to win as well nowadays. I don't see it as something that should take anything away from Jimmy. I think what he did was extraordinary."
