Analyst explains differences between Djokovic, Roger Federer's performances
Speaking on Amazon Prime, former world no. 5 Daniela Hantuchova commented on the differences between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer's performances at the Miami Open. The Serb lost to Roberto Bautista Agut in the fourth round while, in his pre-quarter-final, the Swiss defeated Daniil Medvedev. "We talked about Novak being completely wrong on his shot selection yesterday, well Roger has got it incredibly right today. He is getting it right when it really matters. He might be normal during the set and then on the big points he just steps up.”
Hantuchova also praised Federer's ability to play quick matches: “It has been incredible, very impressive and the conditions seem to be really perfect. After that rain delay yesterday he is really keen to be out here and to finish the match as quick as he can.”
Federer's fourth round against Medvedev had to be postponed to Wednesday, 26th March because of rain on Tuesday, 25th March. As a result, Federer had to play three matches on back-to-back days. After Wednesday, he played the quarter-final against Kevin Anderson on Thursday, 28th March, and his semi-final against Denis Shapovalov on Friday, 29th March.
