Andy Roddick: 'I was not as talented as Roger Federer, Nadal, Djokovic'
In an interview to Clarin the 2003 US Open winner Andy Roddick was asked if he has regrets looking back at his career. The American replied: "Really not. One of the things that really make me proud is how I handled my career. I do not think that I was as talented as Roger, Rafa and Novak, but I stayed there by working a lot. I do not have regrets. Of course, I think, if I won two points more in the 2009 Wimbledon final... But I am very happy with how I did."
Asked what he misses about tennis, Roddick added: "The competition, working for something, and the 10-15 seconds prior to a match win that for us means a lot. I do not know if you can relive such emotions again. I miss tennis but not all days. I am very happy with what I did. If I were sad about what I went through in my life, it would be very bad. Many people go through tougher times than me, that fought in tennis against the best ever."
Asked how it felt to play his last match in career against Juan Martin del Potro at the 2012 US Open, Roddick added: "I am happy it was against him. It was a great environment, he understands the importance of the moment for me. It makes me happy that my last match was against a US Open winner too, and not against someone who we forget of (laughter). He beat me and he was emotional, but he did not show it."
