Anyone who runs into Rafael Nadal on clay, will be in trouble - Expert

In an interview to ESPN, the ATP analyst Craig O'Shannessy commented on Juan Martin del Potro possibly facing Nadal on clay: "Anyone who runs into Rafa on clay will be in trouble. The big key for Juan Martin is a decent draw and his movement, specifically how well he can defend and do things to make an opponent dampen his own intentions. Delpo can take the match into his own hands. He has that great power from the serve and forehand, and he's patient with his backhand. He rarely beats himself, and he has every weapon needed to beat everyone on any given day in our sport."

Spain's Davis Cup team captain Sergi Bruguera feels confident about Rafael Nadal's chances in the clay season. The world No. 2 opened his run on a good note in Monte Carlo beating Roberto Bautista Agut and Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets and secured a spot in the semifinals after defeating Guido Pella. Nadal is coming back from a knee injury. "Last year he went through a similar situation", said Bruguera referring to 2018 when Nadal withdrew from Acapulco, Indian Wells and Miami. "On clay he is the best and there is a huge difference. I do not know how he is doing physically, but if he is okay he will have no issues, his mental strength is impressive."

The former world No. 2 Alex Corretja added: "Playing on clay again is the best news for Rafa. It's his natural environment and I have no doubts that he will be the man to beat."
