ATP Monte Carlo - Thursday Schedule: Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic to play

A busy Thursday is about to happen in Monte Carlo. On the Central Court at 11:00 AM Stefanos Tsitsipas will try to beat Daniil Medvedev for the first time in his career. The Russian leads head to head meetings having won at last year's Miami, US Open and Basel. In Miami they had a tense exchange at the net. After that, Novak Djokovic will play against Taylor Fritz. The Serb will definitely try to play better than how he did on Tuesday against Philipp Kohlschreiber. Rafael Nadal will seek his 12th win over 13 matches against Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian went through a hard season so far having dealt with a shoulder injury, after the Australian Open he took a break and he is back to compete in Miami. They already faced each other in Monte Carlo in 2013 with the Mallorcan prevailing in three sets and in 2018 in straights. Nadal beat Dimitrov in three in their first meeting at 2009 Rotterdam. As last match of the day, after taking advantage of Gilles Simon's withdrawal Fabio Fognini steps on the court to face Alexander Zverev. The German won both matches previously played against the Italian at 2017 Rome and Beijing in straights.

On the Court des Princes two Italians compete in the first two matches: Marco Cecchinato faces Guido Pella, followed by Lorenzo Sonego who seeks his fifth win in the event this year after picking two in the qualies and two in the main draw. Sonego will face Cameron Norrie. Dominic Thiem will try to beat Dusan Lajovic for the sixth time on six, the Austrian only dropped off a set at the last year's Lyon Open, then Borna Coric faces Pierre-Hugues Herbert. They already played against each other on clay in 2017 Madrid, with the Croat prevailing 7-5 6-4.
