Carlos Moya: 'Rafael Nadal is someone I can trust'

In an interview to Le Monde, Carlos Moya has drawn some differences between his way to coach than how Toni Nadal does it. Moya, who has been working with Rafael Nadal since December 2016, said: "I want to believe I am strict but maybe different than him. He is part of his family and he followed Rafa since ever he was six years old. I am different, I am not a member of his family but a friend. But we both want the best for Rafa. We have different ways to explain him things and behave with him, but there is not a better way than the other, we are all different, that's all."

What's the Moya method about? "I like to speak and exchange a lot with him, I try to be the closest as possible to him. I have my opinions and I know what to tell him, but it's important to know his feelings, getting his opinion. And I try to convince him on some aspects and we try to get along well. It's someone I can trust and so far it has been working very well."

Recalling his 1998 French Open title, Moya was asked if he feels some nostalgia. "Nope, honestly, I do not really feel it. Of course, when I go there, good memories appear, but I try to enjoy my time and think about the future, I do not want to forget all the past, but let's say that it's the past."
