Damir Dzumhur splits with coach Ilija Bozoljac
Bosnian tennis star Damir Dzumhur has split with coach Ilija Bozoljac.
Dzumhur, ranked at No. 53 in the world, and former Serbian tennis player Bozoljac worked together for almost a year and a half.
The Bosnian hasn't had a great start to the season as he has picked up three wins and seven losses so far in 2019.
"I would like to share an important information with you guys. Unfortunately, after almost year and half of working with Ilija Bozoljac we made (a) decision to split. It was an unforgettable time we spent together. A trip with a lot of memories and emotions. In good and hard times we were always together. Thanks for being there for me as a coach, but also as a friend. I have learned a lot with you and I am greatful that you have been my coach for (the) last 16 months. We have passed through some memorable time together and. You will always be my brother and friend," Dzumhur wrote on Instagram.
Former world No. 23 Dzumhur hasn't played since the Miami Masters.
Back then, the Bosnian beat rising American star Christopher Eubanks in the first round before he pulled out from his second round match against 2018 French Open semi-finalist Marco Cecchinato due to a back injury.
Dzumhur is set to return to action at the Monte Carlo Masters, where he has interestingly been drawn to meet Cecchinato in the first round.
