Felix Auger-Aliassime on his rankings rise: Definitely faster than expected
Rising Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime admits he is positively surprised by the rankings' rise he has been making this year.
The 18-year-old achieved his career-high ranking of No. 33 in the world this Monday.
The Canadian, who started the season ranked at No. 108, has made a notable jump since the start of the year.
Auger-Aliassime didn't make a strong start to the season but his results drastically improved after helping Canada to beat Slovakia in a Davis Cup qualifying round tie at the beginning of February.
Since the Davis Cup weekend, the Canadian finished runner-up in Rio de Janeiro and made his maiden Masters 1000 semi-final in Miami as a qualifier.
The 18-year-old's results post-Davis Cup also include a Sao Paulo quarter-final showing and an Indian Wells Masters third round finish.
Auger-Aliassime broke into the world's top-100 for the first time in his career after finishing runner-up to Serb Laslo Djere in the final of the ATP 500 event in Rio de Janeiro.
Following his Rio de Janeiro run, the Canadian jumped from No. 104 in the world to No. 60.
The 18-year-old improved to No. 57 following his Indian Wells run but shortly after achieved his career-high ranking following his outstanding Miami campaign.
Auger-Aliassime has already earned $633,999 in prize money from singles this year but it doesn't appear that he will be making a big purchase in the upcoming period.
